- Each Lunch Seminar is dedicated to a specific issue of the time and aims at bringing a better understanding of Japanese Economy and Society. A speaker and a discussant or two debaters make their statement on the topic and then questions come from the floor for an open discussion. We try as often as possible to get together one Japanese speaker and one non-Japanese speaker to offer a comparative approach to the issue. Presentation and discussion are in English (no translation).
In order to help preparation and a deeper discussion, presenters will give a few lines about their basic message or main statement on the issue and sometimes they may give by advance a copy of a working paper they wrote, and or a link where to get it, and reference of a recently published piece; available information including a short biography of the presenters is posted on the MFJ website.
- Since the beginning in January 2004, a short report of each seminar has been written in French by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan and posted on their website (La Lettre Mensuelle). Go there and then type in the search engine’s box, the name of a speaker, to get the piece.
- The seminar was launched by Jean Pascal Bassino and then Sébastien Lechevalier became the main organizer until June 2008.
