Summary:
Is Japanese society monocultural? Of course not. On the contrary, it has become increasingly multicultural in recent years. Some 70,000 Japanese children of school age live abroad, while 10,000 such children return to Japan every year. Additionally, 70,000 children with foreign nationalities are enrolled in Japanese state schools. One out of 25 marriages in Japan involving Japanese nationals is with non-Japanese. More and more children are growing up in multicultural contexts.
In this lunch seminar I will examine the educational experiences of such children. I will share my recent research on international schools in Japan and self-help groups where mothers try to pass on their languages to their children.
Experiences from the floor of living abroad and bringing up children are very welcome. I look forward to discussing international education for global nomads.

Owning one is not about checking the hour, but about carrying a micro-engineering marvel on your wrist—a symbol of patience in an impatient age. This guide delves into the crème de la crème of horology, exploring iconic models from the most revered houses and articulating the reasons behind their legendary status. We will navigate through the realms of timeless elegance, rugged tool watches, avant-garde design, and haute horlogerie complications.

Dress watches are the sartorial equivalent of a perfectly tailored suit or a little black dress: understated, elegant, and defined by exquisite proportions and refinement. They prioritize slimness, legibility, and beautiful finishing over sporty features.
